There are a whole lot of weblog posts talking about how there are too many toolbars. I thought this picture would drive the point home. For a decent amount of time (now or previously), I've used google, yahoo, eurekster, dogpile and alexa's toolbars. Alexa was probably one of the first ones to come out with a toolbar, but I imagine google's and yahoo's toolbar are the most popular now. I intend to earnestly try out hotbot's relatively new toolbar to see how the desktop search works. I also plan to try out dogpile's toolbar to see how the rss search works. I'd be interested in anyone's experience with these.
The rest of these toolbars, imho, are just people trying to grab some real estate on my screen. Mediocre or me-too or meta search tools bundled with random other tools like pop-up blockers, etc. They aren't delivering enough value for me to muck up my screen with their toolbars. Go back to the lab, people!
Awhile ago I started to list out features and create a spreadsheet with what toolbar has what feature. I never finished that. Here is a fairly comprehensive list of features, though, if anyone wants to take that on.

I see the toolbar becoming the "windows start button" for the web. It'll carry the brand of someone we trust, come pre-loaded with the most common tools and be totally customizable.
It is also a way of letting anyone compete in the "browser wars" and makes the browser a commodity business. IE has a near monopoly on it. All browsers are free and there are only a few alternatives. So, there is little incentive or business justification for anyone to innovate there. With toolbars, on the other hand, there is lots of incentive to innovate and have the newest coolest feature (eg search desktop, rss reader) because it drives people back to the search site where they may click on paid ads.
What's everyone think?
a9.com (amazon's new search engine) has a great toolbar

Hm... I wonder who will be the first to capitalize on this "windows start button" idea and make the toolbar that will end all toolbars...

http://www.chrispederick.myacen.com/work/firefox/webdeveloper/ is an excellent toolbar; I have it on my browser. It lets you perform just about any webpage query or manipulation that you want, and its functionality is still accessable if you hide it!

Any Web Designers want to fill out a questionnaire for a school essay?
Are any of you professional (as in part/full-time job and making money from it) web designers who can do a survey/questionnaire about their job? Maybe somebody knows someone fitting the qualification who can answer it within two or three days tops? The questions will be asked via email, by the way.

I need to find some good coders/web designers for a site I plan to build. I'm not trying to kill my budget, but I need to find some decent people who can make a detailed site.
Anyone have reccomendations?

Geeky older brothers into metal can go one of two ways. Some turn into passive aggressive loners who hate their mums. Others school their siblings about Sepultura, form rock bands and upload their bedroom shows on to YouTube. Emilio from Argentina is one of the latter. We spoke to him and his little bro Martin (the one with the Pikachu on his mic stand) about their band The Steel Gauchos...

true religion man's jean see a variety of options for men in terms of colors, material textures and designs. They come in both earthy as well as flamboyant tones, with prints such as the famous skull prints, love hearts etc inspired by the tattoo designs. In fact many of these jeans also sport embroidery of tattoo designs and this provides a very trendy look! With these patterns differing across products, some jeans have them all over, others just on the front or only on pockets etc.
true religion joey jeans ensures that these jeans don't just look good but fit good as well and that solves more than half the problem for men! What is left is the price. Lets look at why wholesale can be a better option. You would probably agree that men don't go shopping for clothes as often as women do, and the clothes men buy are definitely priced higher than those for women. Buying Ed Hardy jeans in wholesale provides two things for you, one is the price falls and you save considerably on money and two your wardrobe is stocked with variety for some time to come.
Wholesale shopping can inspire the best in quality and price as the shop keeper is extra sure to please a customer wanting to buy bulk stock. Wholesale shopping of true religion cotton jeans is also a great option if you want to gift your dear and dear, both family and friends. Buy great style and the best prices and then comes the party, with Ed Hardy!
