Haven't bloggers heard of Trademarks?

I wish O'Reilly had trademarked "Web 2.0" and then not allow anyone to use the phrase ever. That's only dreaming, though.

If they registered the trademark "Web 2.0 Conference" before the term "Web 2.0" was overused, than I believe they have the right to block other events from using the words "Web 2.0" in their title. I know that most bloggers aren't aware of intellectual property rights or think that they are stupid, but they exist for a reason.
