My Whole Sidebar for $150/month!
I make about $100-$150 bucks/month from ads on my left sidebar. But, the number of them have increased significantly and it isn't that attractive. Many of them don't perform.
I'll gladly rent my entire left sidebar to someone for $150/month. Top to bottom full length of the blog. This might be the biggest blog ad ever. We can mix in text and images or whatever you want. If I like your product or service, I'd be glad to provide an endorsement or my opinion inside the ad or solicit opinions of others that I trust. We'll just have to make it look attractive by Eric Sagalyn and Andrew Teman standards. You'll have to committ to a 6 month term as I don't want to change this that often.
The stats haven't been working lately in typepad, so I am not sure exactly what my traffic is. I added mybloglog click tracking (which is awesome btw) one week ago. According to that, in one week I've received 402 readers, 560 views and 60 off site clicks (not including adsense clicks). My main consistent visitors are entrepreneurs and techies and people interested in the event business and blogging as a business. So, figure a $75 CPM for an intelligent informed and active audience.
Update: According to Typepad stats, I get about 9,000 page views/week. So, the CPM would be a lot closer to $4.16. Which makes a lot more sense and is quite a steal.
Update II: I have two companies interested in this. So, if you are interested, now is the time to ask. pcaputa at whizspark dot com.
Hi, Pete.
This seems like a good idea and a smart buy. Reminds me in some ways of what 37 Signals, Coudal, Daring Fireball and A List Apart are doing with the Deck: http://www.coudal.com/deck/. Seems like the trend with online advertising is that less is more.
I'm assuming you mean the left sidebar - is this correct?

The deck is interesting. Thanks for pointing that out.
Do you want to buy my spot, Eric? As I have in the past, I'd be glad to endorse the work you do at 3000k. It is top notch.
Look at all that space. $150/month for six months and it is yours.

Sounds interesting!
How many unique visitors do you have each day, on average? It would be interesting to see how many of those 9,000 page views are from the same person(s).

Typepad stats suck. They don't show uniques. Also, the 9k number is weekly. Not daily, unfortunately.

Yeah, I know your stat was weekly. I figured we could take the daily number and multiply it by 7. :)

Oh, speaking of stats. I wonder if Mint would work on your Typepad site. As long as you have access to editing the HTML templates, it might work well for you. I use it for some of my sites and absolutely loveitloveitloveit. You need to be able to enter a bit o' javascript in the header portion of your HTML templates (main index, archive by date/category/etc).

If you used Mint you wouldn't need that third party link tracker thingie. Something about that service seems a little odd to me. But that's just my 546 cents.

Mint looks very similar to mybloglog. Will l check it out.

I wasn't thinking clearly when I suggested you check out Mint. It's hosted on your own website. You wouldn't be able to use it at TypePad -- so definitely not much like mybloglog.
Just another reason to get your own domain name and install WordPress, etc. :)

Interesting. Why not take it a step further and auction your sidebar on eBay? I think your sidebar is worth more than $150/month!
