Designing Banner Ads
I find myself frequently explaining to graphic designers with print design backgrounds how to design banner ads. Unlike print ads that should have all the information needed, a banner ad typically should just have enough information to get the person to click on it. Of course, some companies have taken this to the extreme and put misleading information on banner ads or design their banner ads just to get clicks. So, there is a fine line between delivering the message through the ad and getting people to click on it.
This event isn't quite ready to go yet. But, the banner ad is a perfect example of how to design a banner ad. Hopefully, it is self explanatory.
Click refresh if you missed the animation.

The only thing I'd add to this, is to change the 'last' frame of the animated ad to display the a full message.
That way when it's finished a cycle, there's a message that a person can understand. Right now, it ends on "Cancer." So if you want your banner to animate, but have a pause on the last frame or simply end, be sure to make that frame infomative.
Personally, I can't stand animated banners and don't allow them on my sites. :)

If you update the graphic, maybe update it on this entry, too? :)
Can't wait to show you the new graphics for Exploit Boston Game Night's new graphics for the event (WhizSpark) site once Ryan finishes them up later today. They are awesome about 3039304% better than the stuff I hacked together.

I understood the banner just fine; in fact, I sat and watched it so I could make sense of it. Making a visitor interpret things for a second means, they are paying attention to the ad that much longer. Give people a little more credit.
