Dane Carlson's Biz Opps Blog Rocks. He sent me a message today to let me know about a kick ass gig he got:
I’ve been hired, with two other veteran business bloggers (Anita Cambell of Small Business Trends, and Rob May of BusinessPundit) to be a part of the online blogging event.
During the live portion of the conference, Sir Richard Branson will be interviewed by Jane Pauley, in Miami, Florida. Both Anita and Rob are there and are hoping to be able to ask him a question. Earlier this week, Anita and Rob queried their readers for input.
Dane goes on to say:
Although I am being compensated for my blogging, the opinions expressed are my own, and are not being influenced by American Express.
I like this model. I have a relationship with Dane. He provides a service to me. I trust his editorial capabilities. He aggregates the best of what's going on in the blogosphere. He has great insights. I value his opinion. He has drive to do what's right. So, that people will read him. So, that he can sell ads and feed his family. I'd prefer that writers/bloggers receive compensation for their time from companies directly. Instead of the way journalists get raped for their time, so that newspaper companies can sell ads to these same companies and regurgitate watered down and stale non-opinions.
Go dane. Go.
Of course, there are a lot of journalists that will likely question his ethics. I say: Move on. Disruption, baby. Disruption.
