Google's Payment System

A few people have asked me what I think Google's Payment system will do.

I have no clue. My guess would be that they want to take a step closer to providing a checking account. Imagine all of the people that are both buying ads through adwords and selling their inventory through adsense. Imagine if Google could keep a little of that cash a little longer. Say a few billion a few extra days.

I'd be developing some more advanced payment and receipt tools too.

This is a total guess. So, here is some expert opinion from people with a bit more experience, inside information and background in the space.

Update: Gary Stein agrees with me. I think.
