FringeNetwork Update

Andrew has Music Post rocking. (Pun really not intended.) He's been able to recruit bloggers simply by posting on craigslist. And they are churning out great reviews and posts at an awesome clip.

Next up, we'd like to get more writers for sitesthatsuck.org.  Both Andrew and Eric are posting on there now and they are both awesome designers. They are both cocky enough to say it too + they aren't afraid to tell people when they suck. And there are an amazing amount of people out there that call themselves good designers, but suck really hard-core. Amazingly, Eric has actually landed gigs as a result of  his postings on STS. Posting on STS is an opportunity for designers to show off their stuff and knowledge. And it has a built in audience. So, if there are any good designers out there that want to post to it, please let us know.  And if you aren't sure if you meet Eric and Andy's standards, I am sure they won't be afraid to let you know.

Linnea has built quite a bit of a community of bloggers and commenters on LinneaDates. Her wit and willingness to 'share what is not often shared' has brought quite a bit of attention. I noticed that she has people guest blogging on LinneaDates. If you'd like to guest blog, please let her know.

Also, I am open to letting other people guest blog on pc4media, if they want a bit of exposure to about 230ish (by my best estimation) advertising, marketing, tech people. Let me know if you are interested.

Oh. Check out blogfortickets. We have that grooving. We are looking for promoters that would like to use blogfortickets as a way to seed their event marketing through blogs. We are fast building up a database of bloggers willing to blog for tickets. And we need tickets to supply to them. It gels perfectly with the local event marketing that we are doing via WhizSpark.

I will have two new WIT victims to announce soon too for this week. The purpose of the WIT is to expose new talent in the blogosphere and also make new friends aware of what we are doing.

New Wormtownnightlife (WNL) and Boston Insomniac sites are coming soon too. It takes heavy advantage of structured blogging and flickr photo streams. WNL is an amazingly lively community of local people. It has been for a long time.  This new version should bring a bit of that community out of the forum a bit and into the real world.

And ad sales: Local ad sales are kicking in. We are getting a lot of free stuff to pass along to all of the contributors and we are selling some ads here and there. Further, the ad placement on FN allows me to sell WhizSpark services by bundling exposure into a package. It works nice locally.

Ads are running via phpadsnew which Andrew is taking care of. He's got different ad code running on each blog, so that we can sell individual blog buys as well as run ads for the other properties on the other properties.

Right now, the focus is building out the sites and recruiting new bloggers, which both Andrew and Eric are working on.  We are also open to any other collaborations with other bloggers or blog networks. Open to any suggestions. We'd like to strike some deals with bloggers and other networks to do some traffic exchange. Our aim is really to focus mostly on local advertising, and to experiment with direct marketing, give-aways and generating feedback for companies.  We want to facilitate interaction between advertisers, writers and readers. We really aren't interested in hiring bloggers to blog. We prefer to keep the relationship non-monetary, but provide a platform for people that want to be heard. A pedestal per se. There is a lot of undiscovered talent out there. Our aim is to kick some of that up and expose it.  In the meanwhile, this provides us a platform to get our stuff out there too, which is really my main interest.

Exploit Boston has always been a little heavy on music related events because that’s the sorts of events I’m personally most interested in. Michael has stepped up as book/literary editor so the site is going to see a lot more in that area... [Read More]

I think we will be welcoming one more site to the family very soon. I finally convinced one very cute local girl to get her fashion diary up and moving. It was the toughest sale of my life...

Nice. That'll be awesome. Can't wait to see it.
