Open Casting Call for Mutual Masturbaters
David Sifry has called for nominations for an AlwaysOn/Technorati OpenMedia List. Then, I saw a few people list their nominations. And it is the typical people that already receive plenty of blog press. They're great people, of course, and they are the rightful owners of these titles, but I am pretty tired of the same people getting the same blog press. Do these people really need this?
Here are the people that I think are working on cool stuff that don't get enough blog press.
Gregory Narain SparkCasting
Anjo Anjewierden
Greg Gershman Blogdigger
Hjalmar Gislason Spurl Zniff
Bob Wyman PubSub
Allen Searls Wondir
Me WhizSpark Supporting role on Fringe Network and Shoutster
Boris Mann, Roland Tanglao and Kris Krug Bryght
Marc Canter - BroadBand Mechanics OurMedia
Joseph DePalma
Tony Gentile BuzzHit
Andy Baio Upcoming.org
Susan Kaup Sooz.com ExploitBoston!
Shimon Rura Frassle
Derrick Oien InterCastingCorp
What would be nice is...
For someone to put together some kind of program that helps entrepreneurs on the fringe like the people above to reach out to the people on Susan Mernit's AO/Technorati List. These people are in a great position to help new entrepreneurs that believe in open media and technology to leverage the open media to further creative enterprises. Right now, the way I see the blogosphere, it is just another media conglomerate that I have to kiss up to - in order to get recognized. Yeah, the barrier to entry might be a bit lower. But the barrier to recognition is just as high.
If there's an award for "Best Entry Title in a Personal Weblog" ... I think you should definitely be one of the nominees. ;)

Yeah. I actually wasn't even gonna post about this. Then, I thought of the title and was inspired. :)

Thanks. I especially second the vote for Hjalmar Gislason, Bob Wyman and Marc Canter, btw.

It's another media conglomerate that you have to say "fuck you" to.
Isn't that the way that blogs started out -- as counterculture?

I don't think I'd go that far.

that's the hardest part of online publishing for me.
where and how do i attract attention?
your headline certainly did a very fine job.
