Teaching New Bloggers How to Attribute

Update: Lesson learned. And thank you Susan.

I opened up bloglines today and read Susan Mernit's feed. She's linked to me a few times before, and we've exchanged some emails, so I was delighted that she quoted one of my old posts. If I may say so, also one of my more clever ones.

Then, I looked a little closer and realized she was crediting someone else with my words. Of course, this wasn't Susan's fault.  But, this new blogger that doesn't know how to quote or attribute other people's original writing.    I'll assume that Dominant Princess is new to blogging and is ignorant of acceptable quoting practices. Consider this a hand slap.

On the other hand, however.... Anyone that has attended grade school should know that what she has done is plagiarism.  So, I highly reccomend to dominant princess that she learns how to quote people and always attributes people's original writing with a link to the original post. Otherwise, Dominant Princes will be getting some smackdowns. And won't be so dominant any more.

It is funny how I wrote this in the original post:

10. Continued to write in first person and monitor incoming links through technorati and when our ideas are not attributed, promptly blogged about it.

And here I am... promptly blogging about it.

Maybe Dominant Princess was just testing me?
