The Weblog Invasion Tour (WIT) Rolls On

WIT Redux: What it is. The History til now. How it Works.

The short Recap.
1. Choose Coveted Land: Pick Bloggers
2. Invade: Comment and Link to them for one week.
3. Convert to Our Rule: Ask them to join us when we move on to the next set of weblogs.
4. Pick the Next Conquest: Ask new people to pick new weblogs.

We first tried to pick one blogger in one day. That proved difficult. So, we are starting by picking 4 webloggers. And instead of defining a fixed amount of time, we will be announcing the next one when we are damn well ready.

We hope to put more structure to it, but since this is a side project for both Matt and I, we are gonna be a little loose in the beginning. As we grow our forces, we will tighten the reigns.

So, without further ado, here are this week's 4 selections:

Gregory Narain's Social Twister
Update: Looks like Gregory is guest blogging at Get Real, Stowe Boyd's blog. Congrats Greg. I guess WIT has an eye for talent. Stowe's blog is excellent.

Joe Bartling's spiderware.com

Fred Wilson's A VC

Bob Wyman's As I May Think

You may be wondering how we picked these. One is a recommendation from Scott Allen: spiderware. The rest are weblogs I've been reading on and off for different amount of times. All four of these are in my bloglines subscriptions.

All four of these weblogs are "under-known". Under-known is a word [I believe] I've invented to describe a weblog that is excellently crafted, but isn't known too widely. All four of these webloggers write extremely well, have lots of orignal thoughts, like to try out new things, and analyze things in interesting ways.

They also have some common interests, in which I am also interested...

Joe Bartling and Gregory Narain both write almost exclusively about social software. Gregory focusses a lot on the social implications of technology. Joe talks a bit about the spiritual side of networking. They both cover a lot more than that too. But they definitely are enamored, like me, by the whole online social networking phenom.

Fred Wilson, if you hadn't guessed by the name of his weblog, is a VC in NYC. One of his investments, intelliseek, has fairly recently launched blogpulse. Blogpulse is a weblog buzz charting tool plus other things. Bob Wyman is the man behind pubsub, a prospective weblog search/alert service. There are some obvious linkages there. Fred is a brand new blogger and Bob is about 8 months into it.

Invading four weblogs at once allows us to add a new dimension to the WIT: Uniting people that may not know of each other, but that have similar interests. Yes, we are playing weblog matchmaker. We'll see how this goes. Maybe Joe and Greg will have some awesome revelations about social software, Fred can finance it and Bob can implement it. We'll see. If not, maybe there'll just be some good back and forth discussions.

AND HOPEFULLY, They'll all join the tour.

Peter,

Thanks for you mention here and for taking the time to follow-up on my blogging efforts.

This WIT Tour sounds interesting, and I think it could be working. My traffic has been up the last couple of days and I didn't know why :)

I'd be happy to help out in bending that power curve back to normal.

Greg

so what is the tour, exactly? sounds interesting.
and possibly fun.
